This event marked the official announcement of PAL's designation as the exclusive distributor for the ZEEKR brand in the Myanmar market. This collaboration signifies a significant milestone in the automotive development of Premier Automotive Limited and will introduce innovative electric vehicle options to consumers in Myanmar.

Myanmar, in a strategic move to boost its electric vehicle (EV) industry, has introduced a series of customs tariff relaxations for EVs via both seaborne and border trade routes, as confirmed by the country’s Ministry of Commerce. The importation of EV chargers has been granted exemption from Customs tariffs, signaling a commitment to fortify the domestic auto market's EV sector. The Myanmar Investment Commission, in alignment with its notification on February 2023, has designated electric vehicles and related businesses as a priority sector for promotion.

Enterprises involved in the installation, manufacturing, and restoration services of EVs, renewable electricity generation, EV charging services, electric vehicle battery production, and related services, as well as scientific research development, fall within these priority sectors.

Notably, EVs are entitled to a zero-Customs tariff status, a decision outlined in a November 2022 notification by the Ministry of Planning and Finance. To further incentivize EV adoption and bolster the related industry, tariffs for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) have been reduced to zero percent for Completely Built Up (CBU), Completely Knocked Down (CKD), and Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) imports, as per the Union Government's directive.

In tandem with these efforts, Myanmar has also instituted general laws governing the importation and display of vehicles in showrooms. The Ministry of Commerce's March 2021 notification outlines specific conditions for showroom licenses, including a deposit requirement, tax clearance, and showroom size specifications.
